The Pride of Philadelphia Election Committee (POPEC) is a political group founded in 1987 to identify and support LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) friendly candidates for public office. POPEC's "Pride of '99" coalition endorsed Republican candidate Sam Katz for Mayor of Philadelphia in 1999.
